Anamalz, Hear Me Roar!

My son’s first Anamalz were a gift, and I was hooked … I mean, he was hooked.  Although these toys are recommended for children three years and older, Oliver has been playing with them since before he was a year old.  Part of our diaper routine includes him picking an animal from his collection, and making animal noises while we change his diaper.

I feel like I should be embarrassed that I went out and bought the whole range (including the Polar Region collection that I had to buy off ebay because it was a limited edition box set), but these beautiful wood and felt animals are the coolest!  Their legs and necks are made of flexible rope so that they can be manipulated into various positions.  Best of all, this Australian company uses renewable resources including organic maple wood and textiles, with a percentage of every purchase going towards wildlife organizations worldwide.

Do I feel bad at purchasing every animal this company makes?  Nope – I’m considering them heirloom toys that I am sure my grandchildren will enjoy – if I’m not too busy playing with them.  Priced at between $8.00 to $10.00, look for Wild Anamalz, Farm Anamalz, and Australian Anamalz at your local children’s boutique or toy store.  Our favourites include the lion and the pig – oink!

I am a fellow Anamalz afficianado and we carry the entire range of anamalz that are typically available in Canada (22 critters) and we will soon be adding a limited supply of the Australiana range. The Koala and Wombat are my absolute faves!

The best news is that Anamalz is launching a prehistoric range very soon and while the prices are going to be about double the current ones, they are sure to be a hit. I know one 3 year old who will be crazy for them!

So glad to have found your review. I just discovered Anamalz yesterday, after searching for an animal set for my 13 month old son for the last few months. I don’t feel guilty about the fact that I ran… to my computer… to track down all 27 of the currently offered Anamalz, including the elusive Reindeer and Australian animals, which I had to order from two separate shops in the UK and AU. I got a great deal on the first 21 from a website called BrightOctober here in the U.S., so I ended up averaging less than 7 a piece after it was all said and done. Now that I know there is a far more elusive Polar set, I intend to find it as well.

This is on an entirely separate note, but I’m equally as nuts about the felt fruits, veggies and harvest sets from Land of Nod. They are made of wool in Nepal and at 25 dollars per set of 6, an amazing price. They are also huge compared to normal play food, which is great for younger kids. Just thought I’d let you know. :)
