The best gifts I got while pregnant or after baby was born were all handmade. I recieved a box of handmade wall hangings, little stuffed birds, and other toys for Ruby from an old family friend. Also recieved a hand painted picture of cherry blossoms with our last name painted in japanese from a girlfriend. Also just recently recieved a hand made quilt from one of my mom’s friends. By far these were all the best gifts we could get and we will cherish them for a long time.
The best gift I got was a homemade cradle from mu husband’s uncle. I’ll treasure it forever.
The best gift that I got before I had my daughter in August 2008 were homemade meals for the freezer! These definitly came in handy while trying to settle into new mom life!!
Here’s a great book to give to any expecting or new parents. It’s hilarious and fun.
“Penelope Penguin The Incredibly Good Baby” by John Bianchi
Cornelius and Daphne Penguin suffer the usual last minute doubts just before having their first baby. After all not all babies are easy to take care of–some cry constantly, others are always hungry and most never sleep right through the night. But Penelope the baby penguin turns out to be a good baby. A very good baby. Perhaps too good. Barely a week old, she sleeps all night, never cries, always says please and serves her parents breakfast in bed. Determined to be helpful she vacuums the house, does laundry and even tunes up the family car. Late one night, however, her goodness gets her in trouble. When two police officers bring Penelope home for driving to the grocery store without a licence, her parents realize they must take action.
Best gift I received was the diaper genie 2. Still using it at 19 months!!
so far? a Storkcraft glider and footstool from Sears from my MIL. They got a great deal on a floor model too.
The Best gift that I have received thus far in the pregnancy, my first, was a pair of amber earings from my husband as a surprise because I had just spent 3 days crying in a mad fit of hormonal depression. I was feeling like it was all becoming about this unborn baby and that my life was going to be changing too much. My husband reminded me that I was still Claudia and would always be his only Claudia. It was very sweet and made me happy again,(and not just because I like sparklies)! Now I can’t wait for the baby to come so I can share that joy with him/her.
The one of the best gifts I received was a baby wrap my girlfriend made. It was cheap and easy to make and I am still using it after 20mos! My daughter slept so well in it and I loved the tummy to tummy time it gave both of us.
I have made several for friends of mine!
Hi Spilt Milk Moms,
I love your website!! It is great to see mothers getting together and creating something for moms/ parents that is helpful, entertaining and most of all local! Keep up the good work.
My best baby gift….hummm. I dont know if this is the best baby gift but it is still the only gift that I use. Our diaper genie (we have gone through two) but the playtex genie II is a much better than the first version, I think there might be a version 3. Out of all of our baby gifts this seemed to be the most useful, still using it after 3 years and probably another 3!
Although my kids are 8 and 6 now, I still remember by far my favorite gifts were the Robeez Footwear. Never in all my babies young years did these slippers ever go missing….they never fell off!!! Washable and comfortable, not to mention pretty darn cute! If only they made them in adult sizes!!!!!
The best gift I received was the Prince Lionheart Bear. It provided a new mom and her little one several extra hours of sleep.
Best gift we got was definitely the Boon Frog Pod…
We’ve received so many thoughtful gifts, but my two favourites are the stroller (Baby Jogger City Elite) my in-laws bought us, and a jar of Burt’s Bees Mama Bee Belly Butter. It was a thoughtful gift from one of Doug’s pregnant co-workers (whom I’d never met) and I love to rub it on my belly (or have Doug rub it on my belly) every night before bed. It smells delicious and it’s a great little night-time ritual.
We were blessed and received a lot of great stuff, but one of the best things we received was the Sleep Sheep sound thingy – we still use it now with baby number 2!
Another good gift was the Sleep Sheep. Liam still listens to it every night. Maybe this is why he slept in his own crib from day 5 on and slept through the entire night from 12 weeks on. 4 different settings (heartbeat, ocean, rain and whale) for either 20 minutes or 45 minutes. There is even a stroller version with only 3 settings.
All the handmade gifts were amazing and ones we will always cherish. I also really loved the good quality clothing that I wouldn’t have been able to buy myself.
The best gift i recieved was the Womb Bear! That sucker was a life saver! my son was such a fussy sleeper when he was a baby and every time we attatched this to his crib, he would fall fast asleep. If you don’t have one of those little suckers, you should invest in one.
