There are a crazy amount of teethers on the market, and most have one thing in common – they are made of plastic. In light of the recent PVC and BPA scares, as well as the environmental footprint involved in the production and disposal of plastics, I am not sure how I feel about my Maddie spending half her day with a chunk of cheap plastic hanging out of her mouth. This is why I was thrilled to find this natural teething toy by Ringley!
Created by a Canadian Mom, Ringley’s concept is simple. It consists of a piece of 100% organic cotton terry cloth secured around an untreated maple wood ring. This texture combination is perfect considering Maddie is usually happiest when she is chewing on her sleeves or her crib rails.
There are two kinds of Ringley’s available; a knotted version which provides a larger area for older babies to chew on, and a straight version (shown above) which is better for younger babes with smaller mouths. These teethers are just so simple and safe for your kids to use – no plastics, toxins, adhesives, paints, or saline solutions to worry about. And you can give your baby a cool treat by moistening the cloth around the ring with cold water. Ringley’s natural teething toys are hand washable – just hang to dry!
Ringley’s are available at most baby boutiques or online at the following retailers for about $14.99 CAD.

We always gave my dd a frozen washcloth to chew on. Do you think you could wet the Ringley and then freeze it? or maybe just part of it, you wouldn’t want a massive mess to clean up. It seemed like the cold, along with the chewing, helped her gums a lot more than either alone.
