Zoo Packs

zoopacks300Having been an advertiser to children in a previous life I am adamantly against branded merchandise and fully expect that my daughter will hate me when I refuse, for the umpteenth time, to buy her whatever version of Hannah Montana back to school stuff exists then. The biggest problem is that it’s very hard to find cool, age-appropriate, non-branded kids stuff. (I don’t want my daughter to be a social pariah because I’m trying to atone for sins of my past!)  Why am I not surprised that Spilt Milk Moms’ favourite Skip*Hop have stepped up to help fill in the void?

Skip*Hop have just released the cutest line of kids backpacks (for ages 3+) called Zoo Packs and the designs include a dog, mouse and penguin. All the backpacks are colourful and whimsical and (heaven forbid) practical. They have an insulated pouch for snacks, a mesh bottle pocket, easy-clean lining and a write on name-tag inside. Plus they are BPA-Free, Phthalate-free, PVC Free (take that Hannah Montana!) and this pig, mouse and penguin aren’t peddling their own tv show, movie or other merchandise. At $20US they’re also affordable and are available on-line, or in boutique stores.

All about: Emily:
Emily is very proud to be one of the Spilt Milk Moms ‘founding mothers’ as well as being Mama to “Little Miss” (who was born in August 2009) and Wifelet to her Husbando. She spent seven years living in London which helped her to develop a keen eye for amazing products from around the world. As an actress and producer, Emily ensured her place in hell with over 3 years in children’s advertising (her job was “to create want where there is no need!”) but looks to undo the damage by finding the best things around for mamas and little ones. Emily is always ready with fresh baking, a silly song, or a glass of chardonnay and is renowned for always being overdressed and having a killer collection of heels that she’s not afraid to wear (even whilst babywearing!). You can also find her on her personal blog Aprons & Heels ~ emily (at) SpiltMilkMoms (dot) com

Amen! I also refuse to buy the girls that kind of stuff. It’s really hard to shop when everything is covered in High School Musical and Hannah Montana!
