Ocena Winter Pockets

We’ve talked about car seat pockets before on Spilt Milk Moms (read Jo’s review of JJ Cole’s wonderful Bundleme line here), but when I saw these by Quebec based Canadian company Ocena, I just had to share my discovery with you!

Ocena’s winter pockets (they make spring pockets as well) are incredibly well made and beautifully embroidered with stunning graphics.  Intended for babies aged zero to nine months, they can be used in both car seats and strollers, and the removable panel at the back of the pocket makes it easy to adjust straps and ensure a snug fit in any type of car seat or stroller system.  What I love most about Ocena pockets, though, is the clever embroidery that adorns each one.  I’m crazy about the owl motive pocket pictured above, but purchased the Hedgehogs one for my new baby (listed in their catalog here).  I like, too, that their pockets for little girls aren’t too girly (like the Bird pocket for example).

Ocena pockets are a great way to keep your baby warm during winter without layers of clothes and blankets and hassle.  Because each pocket has a nice snugly fleece lining (the spring ones have a flannel lining), you can skip the layers and clumsy snowsuit by simply dressing your child in a comfortable outfit and a hat before zipping the pocket shut and heading out.

Ocena makes beautiful hats that are colour and design coordinated to match each of their pockets.  Also be sure to check out their beautiful sleeping bags for kids aged zero to three.  Ocena’s pockets and other products can be purchased from the dealers listed on the tab on their website.  Unfortunately, the site doesn’t list which retailers have on-line stores, so I had to do a bit of hunting and purchased mine from Calins et Popotin for about $60 CAD.
