It was the day after I’d brought my daughter home from the hospital, and I found myself standing in an aisle of Babies “R” Us frantically looking at a mountain of baby monitors after we’d realized that listening for a baby in a three bedroom townhouse was not the same as listening for one in the basement suite of a house. Without time to conduct proper research on this purchase, and running on limited brain and body power, I grabbed the one that looked best. That’s right, I went purely for aesthetics, and lucky for me, our purchase of our Safety 1st Hi-Def Digital Monitor has been worth every cent ….
Okay, so the details. Let’s start with aesthetics, since that’s what won me over originally. The Safety 1st Hi-Def Digital Monitor looks like an iPod. It’s compact, slim, sexy, and stylish, and completely blends in with our home. More important than aesthetics, however, is sound quality (of course). The sound is clear, uninterrupted, and there is absolutely no static. Because it is digital, there is no channel switching. Other features include a belt clip for the cordless option (though both units can be plugged in, which I prefer), a link indicator to show you whether or not both units are functioning (a feature I really appreciate), 1000 feet of range, and sound lights that glow red when your little one stirs should you need to turn the volume low or off.
Retailing for around $74.99 CAD, the Safety 1st Hi-Def Digital Monitor can be purchased from the Safety 1st website and other retailers listed on the Safety 1st Hi-Def Digital Monitor page.
