I decided to feed my child some sweet potatoes and applesauce-but it didn't "stay down"- instead the "mess" ended up in my hair

It seems like everyday is an eating nightmare in my house. My daughter manages to get food up her nose (that is the worst to get out), in her hair, in her diaper and in her ears. No part of her body is safe when she eats:) Then it is off to the tub to get showered off.

In a restaurant. She threw all her food all over the place. That was the last time we took her to a restaurant for a few years.

when my nephew was 6 months old and I was babysitting him ( prior to 1 yr mat leave, so my sister had to go back to work) he somehow managed to pull the nipple of his full bottle and wore the entire contents of my sisters left breast....we were at the mall and he was soaked and smelly. And being only an Auntie and not a mommy, I had not brought any extra clothes....yes, he went home wrapped in a paper bag from Safeway!!

Sometimes I get the bowl too close to my son and with great speed he grasps onto the side and actually lifts himself out of his seat, as far as he can with being strapped in. His hands get mucky and he wipes them all over his face, hair and clothes. On those days he usually heads straight to the bath.:)

Reminded of the way my son (2yrs) eats carrots...loves to bite them and chew them up into little bits, then spit it all out...then take another bite & repeat! I finally got wise to giving him a spit-bowl now....

Why is it if just a little bit of food drips onto my sons tray, he finds it and smears it all over himself? He is Really fast.

My son hates green beans and carrots. When I try to feed them to him he lets me know his distaste by blowing them out of his mouth and all over me and himself.

letting a child feed themselves is always a sight. I am not sure if I will ever be ready for all that mess!! My nephew is not that coordinated, and tries his best with the fork, but most of his food ends up hidden on him or on the floor where the dog is happily waiting - unless it is veggies of course.

When my son gets fussy I give him mum mums. He absolutely loves them and enjoys putting then in his hair, all over his face and on his clothes after, he has wet them with his mouth and turned them into mush.
