Looking for an alternative to the plastic baby bottle? Check out these funky glass bottles with colourful silicone sleeves by Lifefactory!
While plastic baby bottles are now manufactured without bisphenol-A (BPA), I still wonder what else I don’t know about plastic bottles that could harm my little miss. Glass bottles are a great alternative because they are eco-friendly, easy to keep clean, and don’t develop the odour that plastic bottles sometime do.
Lifefactory’s (previously Babylife Wee Go) glass bottles come in two sizes (4 and 9 ounces) and you have your choice of ordering them with silicone sleeves in six colours. These sleeves help to protect the glass bottle from bumps and breakage, and make them easy for babies to grab on to when they are old enough to do so. The silicone sleeves are also easy to slide on and off the bottle (with a little soap and water) for more thorough cleanings.
If you are thinking about switching from plastic bottles, be aware that glass bottles are heavier and, of course, more fragile. Also, while Lifefactory’s silicone sleeves have markings on them to denote the millilitre and ounce measurements, they are somewhat hard to see as they blend into the sleeve (I have to put my finger on the mark to make sure I add the correct amount of water). Despite this drawback, I think the colourful, tactile sleeves stimulate my baby during feedings and we love these bottles by Lifefactory – I own all six colours in the 9 ounce size and we receive compliments on them wherever we go.
