During our A Few Of Our Favourite Things giveaways this past December, we asked Spilt Milk Moms readers to comment about which product carried by Raspberry Kids we should review. The result was an overwhelming response for us to try out and tell you about Eco-friendly lunchbox Goodbyn, and thanks to Sue from Raspberry Kids (and her distributor), we were given a Goodbyn to review AND one to giveaway!
Goodbyns are Eco-friendly lunchboxes that provide a fabulous alternative for parents who are trying to use less plastic food bags and drink boxes. My first impressions about this product (before trying it even) were as follows:
- I was really impressed with the minimal, unbleached cardboard packaging. Less is more when it comes to packaging (and ink) for me.
- I LOVE that the Goodbyn comes with an 8.5 ounce drink bottle, eliminating the need for drink boxes. Best of all, the bottle fits right into the lunchbox, which means there is a better chance that it will find its way home.
- The Goodbyn comes with 275 stickers (including body parts, the alphabet, and allergy-themed ones) so that your child can personalize his or her lunchbox and drink bottle. The stickers are dishwasher safe, too, so they should last a while before needing replacing. Stickers are a HUGE sell in my household, and my son absolutely loved applying them to his Goodbyn.
- This lunchbox is dishwasher safe, BPA, phthalates, and lead free, and it can be recycled when you’re through with it. AND it’s made in the USA. Check out this link for more great features.
To really put this lunchbox to the test, I sent my husband, an elementary school teacher, to work with it. His feedback? Not only do the compartments not leak, his lunch stayed fresh and the company’s claim that your banana won’t taste like your chicken korma (or in our case a salami sandwich) was true. After using the Goodbyn for a few weeks, I’d also have to say that I really appreciate how this lunchbox functions as one complete unit – no jumble of ten Tupperware containers zipped into an ill-suited lunch kit.
Goodbyns are available in orange, blue, green, and pink, (with four new colours and an updated design scheduled for release next month) and the simple yet brilliant design of the box should make it easy for young children to open and close. However, I’m not sure that every child will find the lid easy to open or, more importantly, close. In order to avoid your child arriving home after school with their lunch all over their backpack, you may want to evaluate your child’s abilities and teach them how to open/close the Goodbyn properly. Something else to take into account is the large size of the Goodbyn. Because it is designed to carry whole fruits and sandwiches, the Goodbyn is larger than other lunchboxes and will not fit into every backpack (like my son’s Dante Beatrix Little Kid Backpack). Luckily, the Goodbyn has a built-in handle on the top of the box, which makes for easy carrying if necessary.
The Goodbyn is designed for children aged five and over, but I am already using it with my two-and-a-half year old in an effort to produce less waste and to teach him about the importance of being Eco-friendly at an early age. Goodbyns are definitely a step in the right direction, and their motto says it best: a better lunchbox, reinvented for kids, parents, and our planet.
Purchase one starting at $29.95 USD from Goodbyn or these retailers (including Raspberry Kids) – a steal considering how much money you’ll save by not purchasing drink boxes and plastic sandwich bags.

It’s great that it comes with a matching reusable drink bottle. I cringe seeing so many prepackaged drink boxes and juice pouches that go into the trash barrels in the cafeteria!
who doesnt love a lunch conatiner with eyelashes?!?!
stickers!!!
No guilt at all in this – eco friendly, recycable and less waste!
Love the separate compartments and makes it fun to eat lunch!
It is a fun idea that it can be decorated.
I love that it can hold a LOT of food securely.
got to love a re-usable drink container
BPA free and made in the USA – tremendous!
I LOVE the fact that it’s Green – it the construction and every day use. I hate using baggies too, and wash/reuse many of them, but in the morning when everything’s a rush, the individual compartments sound awesome!
My daughter loves stickers…so this lunchbox with stickers for her to play with is just perfect!!
Loving all the separate compartments for the food!
I like the design.
Such a wide variety of stickers – sure to be something for each child to create their own unique look, making their Goodbyn truly their OWN.
I like that the areas inside can hold a whole piece of fruit.
I like the versatile design making it great not only for kids, but adults as well to use.
great lunch box and so practical

the juice box and its special slot.
Two words: dishwasher safe!
one piece..not a ton of lids and containers to wash and keep up with!
I pack lunch for 5 children, myself and my husband every night…and let me tell you, those lunch boxes get STINKY after a day at work/school and are not easy to wash and have dry by the time I pack them in the evening (not to mention finding room in the fridge for 7 lunchboxes!!!!) The fact that I could easily clean them in the dishwasher AND stack them neatly in the fridge is AWESOME!!!!
I love the whole thing but the fact that it has a drink container in it is pretty cool. Getting rid of plastic bags would be even cooler!
Thanks,
Sarah
The variety of sizes of the food spaces – big spots, small spots – every food will have the right sized spot.
I think the best feature is the drink container since my son is pretty picky about his beverages and I hate to give him those individual juices. He can handle the flip top easily and has to close it to pack it away (which is great since he doesn’t always finish his drinks). It’s so nice that it’s one piece to wash – not a bunch of little boxes and a lunch box – so their is no issue of losing tops or cluttering up the dish drainer either.
My favorite feature is how environmentally friendly these fantastic lunchboxes are. Three kids, 3 sandwiches inside 3 plastic baggies, 3 baggies full of carrots, 3 baggies full of apple slices, 3 juice boxes….and the list can go on. It’s disgusting how disposable our lives have become……Goodbyn is not only helping our planet but helping our kids become environmentally savvy…….Thank You!!!
great color choices, sticker assortment, very kid friendly.
I love that it is made in the USA and I love lunchboxes!
I love the little ears and the stickers! So sweet and fun for my little girl. Even more than that though, I love that I don’t have to use ziploc bags!
Still really like the fact that the juice box is built in.
stickers!!!!!
I like that it’s leak-proof. A lot of other options like this don’t give you a way to keep the fruit salad away from the sandwich. But fruit salad + sandwich = yuck, so I like this feature a lot.
Can’t wait to try the stickers.
