Praeventia – Food For Life

Have you heard of leclerc’s Praeventia line of cookies and bars?  If you haven’t and you strive to ensure that your family eats healthy yet yummy foods, you should try some of the goodies in the Praeventia line.

Praeventia bars come in two flavours, Apple and Almond with Green Tea Extract and Cranberry and Pomegranate with Red Wine Extract (my personal favourite).  There is a wider variety of cookies for purchase, with the Praeventia Cookies with Inulin available in two original flavours, Orange Zest with Green Tea Extract and Dark Chocolate Chip 70% Cocoa with Red Wine Extract.  Praeventia’s Cookies with Wellmune WGP come in Ginger and Chocolate Chip 70% Cocoa and Cranberry flavours.  Finally, Leclerc also sells Praeventia Junior Cookies with Inulin in two varieties, 70% Dark Chocolate Chip and Double Chocolate (70% dark chocolate chip and cocoa).  Oh, and did I mention that their cookies all come in small heart shapes?  A HUGE hit with my toddler, and easy for him to eat.  Yummy and fun!

Praeventia’s products are different from other cookies and bars out there.  Here’s why:

• Praeventia uses REAL chocolate in their goodies, not that waxy gross stuff that leaves you with a bad taste in your mouth.  Other high quality ingredients include fruits like cranberry, apple, and pomegranate.
• Both their bars and cookies are individually packaged, which helps with portion control and when packing lunches.
• Some of the ingredients in Praeventia’s bars and cookies include green tea extract, red wine extract, and 70% dark chocolate – all antioxidants.
• High in fibre, Praeventia’s products are made using whole grains.
• Some of the cookies and bars are sweetened with a natural sweetener, agave nectar.  According to the Praeventia website, agave nectar is sweeter than sugar but has a lower glyceminc index.
• By including the ingredient inulin extracted from the chicory root, Praeventia ensures that you get a dose of prebiotic dietary fibre while enjoying a yummy snack.

Leclerc is a Canadian company, so I doubt that readers outside of Canada will find their Praeventia products on their grocery shelves.  If you do live in Canada, though, Superstore, Extra Foods, Save-On-Foods, Costco, and other stores carry these items in their cookie and granola bar aisles.  Happy healthy snacking!
