Broody Chick Giveaway For Your Brood!

The day I found out that I was pregnant I made a conscious effort to try and reduce my carbon footprint, and so I decided I would use cloth or biodegradable diapers for my new little guy. Fast forward almost eight months later, and we are still happily using a cloth diaper service; however, we have started to travel more and needed a disposable diaper that we could take with us on trips. I went in search of a green and local company and found Broody Chick, which is based in Victoria, British Columbia.

Broody Chick was started by a mom who wanted products for her children that were free from unnecessary parabens, preservatives, petroleum bases or fake aromas. The company has a great line of products, which include skin care, creams, soaps, washes, as well as 100% compostable diapers and wipes. Broody Chick’s skin and body products are hand made by the founder and her family, using the best natural ingredients from local suppliers. I love that their diapers and wipes are not only 100% compostable, but that they are also chemical, fragrance and chlorine free.

We have used Broody Chick diapers during each trip we take, and have had no problems with leakage, nor have any rashes come about on Travis’s sensitive bum! I also like that the packaging is recyclable (outer cardboard) and compostable (inner bag). The only con that I can think of is that the diapers are a little pricier than your average brand, the infant size retailing for around $17.99 CAD for 32 diapers. But in my opinion, the little extra money is worth it not only because I feel they are better for the environment, but because a percentage of all profits are donated to help support the Victoria Hospital Foundation’s child care and neo-natal units.

My other favorite Broody Chick product is called Sniffs and Snuffles. Travis has allergies, and we used to use a petroleum-based salve on his chest at night to help ease his congestion – although I didn’t feel great about it. When I discovered Broody Chick, I found that they had a similar product to the one that I was using, but it was all natural and petroleum free. We now use Sniffs and Snuffles every night as part of Travis’s bedtime routine, and he loves it!

Broody Chick is a great local company that makes responsible, ethical choices to reduce waste, recycle, and preserve our environment, all the while making excellent products for our families! You can find Broody Chick products at Thrifty Foods, Sobeys, as well as these retailers. Be sure to check out the Broody Chick website for their details about their other great products!
