Richard Scarry's Busytown Board Game

Busytown Board Game
My three-year-old son has recently developed a love of board games. As a fellow lover of all things game related, this new interest has excited me no end. Unfortunately, most board games for the preschool set are a little repetitive for adults, especially on the fourth or fifth round, and that’s why I was so excited to find Richard Scarry’s Busytown Eye Found It! Game by I Can Do That! Games.

The Busytown Board Game’s board is over six feet long and depicts the familiar, brightly coloured Richard Scarry characters in a very busy town setting. The game is based on the Busytown Mysteries television show, and kids can choose to be Huckle Cat, his sister Sally, his pal Lowly Worm, or their friend Hilda Hippo. Players must work together to solve mysteries (aka find hidden objects on the board) before the time runs out.

As a parent, I really appreciate the team spirit of this game. Either everyone wins or everyone loses. My son is still a little young to lose a game gracefully, but he doesn’t mind losing as long as Mom and Dad lose too. The board is so detailed that even after countless games, I still don’t know where all of the hidden objects are. The game is easy enough for my three-year-old to play (with limited help from us), but unlike some of the other games we own that are aimed at preschoolers, I think this one will be fun for years to come.

I honestly can’t think of a downside to this game. I suppose the massive board size could be considered an issue, but my son wants to play all of his games on the floor so setting this game up on the floor is not a problem for us.

Richard Scarry’s Busytown Board game is available at Toys R Us, on ToysRUs.ca for $29.99 or ToysRUs.com for $19.99.
