For months now I have been walking by the beautiful packages of Dorset Cereals on the shelves at my local grocery store, and while I’ve often stopped to admire their stunning, unique packaging, I hadn’t actually worked myself up to making a purchase. This is because I make my own muesli-type cereal at home, but now that I’ve actually tried Dorset’s line of tasty cereals, I can tell you that those days are over!
Dorset Cereals was generous enough to send me samples of their entire cereal line, which includes seven recipes: Berries & Cherries, Really Nutty Muesli, Super Cranberry, Cherry & Almond, Organic Fruit, Nuts & Seeds, Super High Fiber, Fruit, Nuts & Seeds, and Simply Delicious Muesli. All of their cereals are made using wholesome, pure, and basic ingredients with complex flavours that leave you knowing that you made a healthy breakfast choice. And if the packaging doesn’t convince you about the quality of this product, listen to this ingredient description from my favourite ‘recipe’, Berries & Cherries: ‘a tangy mix of berries including raspberries, blackcurrants, cranberries, blueberries & cherries with chilean flame raisins, sultanas & cereals’ (you haven’t had a raisin until you’ve eaten a Chilean flame raisin!). ALL of Dorset’s cereals have between 30-50% fruit and/or nuts and seeds, making each bite a flavour explosion. Other ingredients include oat flakes, wheat flakes, and barley flakes, but my favourite are the toasted and malted wheat flakes which add a nice crunch to each spoonful. And true to their claim, Dorset’s cereals really don’t contain any of that filler ‘dust’ often found in other muesli cereals.
I’m sure that you all know breakfast is considered to be the most important meal of the day. Eating a healthy breakfast gets your metabolism going, helps with weight control, and gives you the energy to chase around your children, keep your house in order, and get through a day at the office. I can’t think of a tastier or healthier way to get my family through the day than serving them one of Dorset’s delicious cereals. You can bet that a company that puts that much time and energy into creating beautiful packaging puts just as much energy into making quality and yummy cereals.
Dorset’s cereals can be found at these fine retailers in the US and Canada, and cost around $5.99 CAD per package.

The Dorset Cereals website is great – I clicked on “Canada” expecting to see a generic list of retailers which might carry their product, depending on which town you’re in, but instead I got to choose my town and they told me specifically which stores in town carry these cereals. Saves this busy mom MUCH running around!
If you go to the Dorset Cereal site they are running a fantastic contest. All you have to do is send in a picture of your favourite simple pleasures with friends and family and if they show them in their gallery you could win a CASE of their cereal.
My one year old son has been on a bit of a hunger strike for… oh….. 2 months now. He eats frozen blueberries and bananas and that’s about it. I was eating my super cranberry, cherry and almond Dorset cereal mixed with yogurt yesterday while I was holding Kash, so I gave him a little bite – not actually expecting him to like it. He LOVED it and single-handedly finished off the rest of the bowl.
Thanks to this post (and Chip’s comment) I won a case of their cereal! Talk about a great company! I’m looking forward to trying out all of the varieties, they look healthy and delicious.
