Motherhood makes for days so busy that at times I find myself craving simplicity, which is why I was so excited to find Hank&Cheef – a fabulous Canadian company that has reminded me there can’t be anything simpler than a hanky! Don’t worry… these aren’t your grandpa’s hankies! Hank&Cheef’s chic, gorgeous and colourful handkerchiefs come in a variety of designs, from robots to snails, and they truly are works of art. Hank&Cheef was kind enough to send me a three-pack of their beautiful owl hankies to try out on my guinea pigs … er, boys (thanks Hank&Cheef!).
I know that you’re thinking “Ewww! Germs!” but just think of all the tasks you use disposable tissues for and then ask yourself if any of those tissues could be replaced with a hanky. I was surprised at how easy it was to incorporate hankies into our daily routine, and I think you might be too! Hank&Cheefs are the perfect alternative for most of your facial tasks, including light sniffles, make-up smudges, biking in the rain, hot flashes, allergies, toddler tantrums, really sad movies, and sweat. That being said, I would suggest you keep a supply of disposable tissues (preferably made from recycled paper) on hand for when your little angel wakes up with one of those snot-pouring-out-of-both-nostrils colds so that you can save your Hank&Cheefs for your less snotty tasks!
Besides being so much lovelier than a wad of used tissue in my jacket pocket, Hank&Cheefs also offer environmental, sustainable, and ethical benefits. As per the Hank&Cheef website, the use of toilet paper and facial tissue amounts to over 700,000 tonnes of disposable tissue products thrown away in Canada every year. Although I’m not prepared to give up toilet paper altogether (yikes), between switching to toilet paper made from recycled paper, using Norwex cloths in place of paper towels, and using Hank&Cheefs instead of disposable tissues when possible, I feel like our family is making a small dent in that frightening number.
Hank&Cheefs are made right here in Canada from 100% organic cotton and water-based dyes. At 8.5″ x 8.5″, they fold nicely into pockets and are the perfect size for both mommy faces and little faces too. Hank&Cheef also offers handkerchiefs in a manly 12″ x 12″ size for that special man in your life. Custom orders for weddings, graduations, births, or pretty much any occasion are available too!
Visit Hank&Cheef’s online store to purchase your hankies – $5.25CAD for singles and $9.75CAD for the 12″x12″ sizes) or $15.75CAD for three-packs.
Hank&Cheef is offering the readers of Spilt Milk Moms 10% off of their large single 12″x12″ Hank&Cheefs and 15% off of their 3-pack Hank&Cheefs. Please email the company at hankandcheef (at) hankandcheef (dot) com following your online purchase with the subject SPILTMILK, and Hank&Cheef will apply the applicable discounts to your total and refund the difference to your account (note: these discounts are not available for items already on sale).

These are so beautiful – I’m going to order several 7-packs and will divide them into several gifts for Christmas (early, I know, but what a great gift!). And I’m definitely going to purchase the Robots one for my son … he’ll love it!
I love the elephant patterns! So cute. And practical.
I love, love, love the westcoast eagle. I have lived among the mighty eagle for 21 years now, and will never tire of watching them. These will fit in very nicely with my attempt at a paper-free household!
Love the elephant design, very cute

Owls, trees, fish, snails – I love so many. These are awesome. My family uses lots of hankies, mostly that I have made from fabric scraps. It would be lovely to have some as beautiful as these. Thanks–
My favourite Hank & Cheef is the snail print. Very cute!

I like the elephants!
I just ordered $100 worth of hankies to give away as gifts for Christmas and baby showers that are coming up. AND I thought of one more situation I could use them for – the gym! A towel to wipe my eyes is usually a hassle to bring, and the paper towels irritate my eczema, but a nice, soft little hanky …. perfect.
Love the elephants for our little monkey.
My favorite design is the raven one from the West coast three pack.
I love elly the elephant, this is the perfect solution to a drooly teething baby
I am now a fan of Hank&Cheef on facebook
I just gave my toddler a hanky for the first time the other day. He had a runny nose and was somewhat terrified of the tissue coming at his nose, but a soft colourful hanky was quite welcomed by his baby nose. He loved using the hanky himself.
These would be great for wiping my face when I get off my bike.
love these…

My grandson loves to wipe his running nose on nanna, so these would be great to use instead of my shirt.
Elly the elephant!
I agree- Elly the Elephant is so cute

I love the stacked elephants! Too cute.
These sound all around useful, so I would use them everywhere!
I love the camels, of course. Oh, and my little one loves to “clean” the walls with a tissue, so I’m sure the hanky would be even better. I would like to claim that he cleans the walls because he has witnessed his mother do this…but, alas, it’s so not true!
Great for the boo-boo tears.
