My husband loves design, and receives a magazine devoted to design each month, which, if not placed high enough, gets promptly destroyed by our son, Travis! So when Chronicle Books sent us three board books from their DwellStudio baby book collection, the whole family was excited!
We were given the DwellStudio GO, EAT, and touch & feel TOWN books, and they have been very well received in our house. Travis is a real foodie, and so it’s not surprising that he loves to run his chubby little fingers over the food in the EAT book, his favorite being the watermelon which takes over both pages!
The pages of GO and EAT each have one to two pictures and words only, which are done in the typical modern Dwell style. The shapes and words are printed in appealing colors, and are slippery to touch. They also pop ever so slightly off the page, daring anyone to try and not touch! These two books, as well as COUNT, LOOK, and what colors?, retail for about $6.99 USD from Amazon.com or about $7.99 CAD from Chapter’s online store.
Touch & feel TOWN has more images and words per page, each containing a rhyming phrase, as well as featured tactile material for babies to touch. There are two other books in the touch & feel series: ZOO and FARM. Chronicle’s touch & feel books retail for about $8.99 USD and $9.99 CAD each.
Although Travis’ bookshelf is already teeming with books, his daddy seems to chose to read him the DwellStudio books more than any other books on the shelf. I’m not sure if it’s because Travis loves them so much, or if my husband has visions of a future designer in our family!
