Measuring the height of my son is, for me, one of the great pleasures of parenting. It’s kind of like a measurement of how I’m doing as a mom to see that he is growing well, is healthy and happy, and that all the sleep interruptions are worth it. I recently came across the fantastic Canadian company Look Who’s Growing. They create personalized growth charts that will help me keep track of my son’s growth in a fun and seriously cute way! [...] Remember back in the day when the hospital would give newborn babies little beaded bracelets in pink and blue with their names on them? Well, you probably don’t remember, but our parents sure do. My mother still shows me mine every once in a while. They’re cute reminders of days gone by to be sure, and [...] Anyone who has been shopping for maternity clothes in the last decade or so knows that you have your choice of 2 different kinds. The frumpy flowery kind that makes you look like you’re giving birth in the 1970’s, and the awesome kind which lets you look modern and pregnant and beautiful. KSeraSera Maternity shirts are of the awesome variety, making me feel like a modern pregnant girl with fashion sense. [...] When I was pregnant the first time my regular routine was to play music in my car really loud during my commutes to and from work so that my unborn son could get the benefit of not only hearing the latest and greatest (and yes, quite a bit of 80’s) music, but he also got to hear his mommy sing her little heart out each day. These days, however, my new little one can get all the benefits of hearing music in utero without being tortured by my loud off-key singing thanks to BellyBuds! [...] In the grand scheme of things, bath time for my son is one of the highlights of his day. He isn’t that much into bath toys, just a few bubbles, a bucket to pour water with and he’s a happy camper. [...] I am a huge fan of the Holiday season, but recently I’ve come to a sad realization. The thought of trying to keep my 17-month-old toddler from destroying the Christmas tree is more than I can handle. [...]  If there is one thing I love, it’s being organized! I’ve always been a lover of purse-sized calendars and Franklin Covey Canada’s Classic Simplicity for Moms Wire-bound Weekly Planner is a great tool for keeping myself organized. Sure, in these high-tech days I’ve got my email calendar and my iPhone calendar and all the other gadget-y things to keep organized, but at the end of the day writing things down and seeing them spread out in front of me is still my favourite way of keeping track of the million and one things that are going on in my life at any one time. [...] When it came to deciding how to decorate my son’s room I knew there was only one way to go. Wall decals! They are a quick way to add colour and life to otherwise plain walls, but the selection in my local home fix-it store was limited at best.
