[...] Since we are fully engulfed in the heat of the summer, I feel obligated to tell you about the amazing sun hat my son was recently given. It is called a Grow-with-me Sun Hat designed by the local Vancouver company, Twinklebelle. My friend was so impressed with the hat that, when she was in the market for the next size for her son, she bought one for mine too. I didn’t realize how wonderful a product it was, until we tried it for ourselves. She was right and we LOVE it! [...] I was thrilled when local Vancouver company Agoo agreed to send me a pair of their fabulous Leg Huggers in the Ed the Elephant pattern (pictured above). The timing was perfect, as my little Miss has recently begun crawling and hasn’t slowed down ever since. Also – it’s summer, and she’s in shorts, dresses, or Playpants, which means that her poor little knees were getting scraped and her legs were picking up all kinds of dirt, food crumbs, and other unmentionables. [...] Canadian company Bummis was kind enough to send me one of their Swimmi Baby Swimsuit swim diapers to try out on my ten month old, Charlotte. The timing was perfect, because not only is it summer and we have plans to spend as much time in the water (pools, lakes, and the ocean) as possible, but [...] I had always wanted to have a boy first, and usually, I get my way! I got lucky, and did have a boy for my first child, and although I was very pleased, I quickly realized that dressing an infant boy wasn’t nearly as fun as dressing a little girl – until I found Rockin’ Rooster Clothing Company. [...] Is there any situation more frustrating than trying to keep a hat on a toddler who has decided he is not-under-any-circumstances-going-to-wear-a-hat? If there is, I haven’t found it. But what I have found is the Kids’ Play Hat from Sunday Afternoons! As you can see from the photo above, this is one unique summer hat. It features a full brim continuing around the sides of the head for full cheek and ear protection, the rear veil protects the neck, and the ‘Smart Strap’ keeps your little one from winning the hat-wearing battle. [...] If you came over to my house for a visit, you would probably come across a stray sock lying on a couch, or under a table, or stuffed into a toy car. My 19-month-old daughter seems to have an issue with socks. She likes to pick them out, she likes to look at them, but she rarely likes to keep them on her feet. When I read that SmartKnitKIDS Seamless Socks “are perfect for children experiencing sensory processing differences, hypersensitivity or who simply can’t stand annoying seams”, I was interested to try them out on her tiny feet. [...] There are two reasons I decided to sign Oliver up for soccer. First, his Papa is a huge fan and we both hope our kids grow to love this sport as much as he does. Secondly, while Oliver was reading and writing at two-and-a-half (six months ago), the kid can’t take a short walk around the block without having a yard sale two minutes out the door. And then I remember – the FIFA 2010 World Cup starts next week in South Africa! [...] I have to admit that I love finding accessories for Little Miss as much as I love finding them for myself. At Christmas Grandma gave Little Miss some adorable Bugalug hair clips which we absolutely love (she was born with a fair bit of hair which has grown very unevenly, leaving her with two Hasidic-like curls on either side of her face and a rat-tail!) Not only do the clips amazingly stay in place but they are also the perfect way to help let the world know your child is really a girl (except for that one guy, who despite the Bugalug hair clip, a pink dress and girly shoes STILL thought Little Miss was a boy – but there’s obviously no hope for him). [...] One of the things that I’m still trying to get used to post-baby is how different my body is. Despite losing the baby weight and more recently, hitting the gym and running regularly nothing seems to be the same. Although I should probably try to come to terms with my new body my first instinct is just to hide it (I apply the same idea to dirt in my house I first admired Baby Buddha Breathetech Stretchy Baby Carrier while at a wedding three years ago. The baby riding around in her Baby Buddha looked so comfortable. In fact she was napping- facing outward! After quizzing the baby-wearing mom mercilessly, I was delighted to learn that her carrier was made in Vancouver. I ordered my own carrier from Baby Buddha’s website for my 2-month old son, and have been in love with it ever since. [...] I will admit that I really do like it when Little Miss is well dressed (just like her Mama lol!) so when I saw the above “cupcake dress” by Baby Boden I couldn’t resist. Not only is this dress style appropriate for a bebe (unlike some of the mini dresses and “halter” tops I’ve seen) but its damn cute and honestly we get compliments every. single. time. she wears it. What I love about Boden (and I own several grown up Boden pieces for myself) is that the quality is so high. Little Miss’ dress is very good quality cotton and is lined which looks fantastic but also ensures that its durable. They are also renowned in the UK for having great pieces for boys and I regularly hear moms lament how hard it is to find nice, cute, durable clothes for boys. Boden isn’t necessarily cheap ($35 for a dress) but for me the durability, style and quality is easily worth that. They also provide great customer service if you do have any issues with your order.
