Parents’ Best Friend

Courtesy of US company timi & leslie, I recently received a Mackenzie 2-in-1 Backpack diaper bag to put to the test. It arrived just in time for my two stopover solo trip to Florida with my 22 month old son, Koji, and so from thirty thousand feet, I can figuratively and literally state that this bag flies above the rest on function, comfort, design and security! Most full-sized diaper bags share the same basic features such as room for diapers, wipes, a spare change of clothes, two bottles, and extra compartments for a cell phone, wallet, keys, diaper creams, thermometer, little toys and other small must haves, as well as a changing pad. The Mackenzie 2-in-1 Backpack includes all of these features, but also offers additional features I really appreciate. [...]

It’s About Packin’ SMART

Those of you moms who are like me, working full time with a kid in daycare, you know that organization is key. So when I saw Innobaby’s Packin’ SMART 4 tier Stack-N-Seal set, I was interested and needed to know more! Innobaby kindly sent me their Packin’ SMART Stack N Seal 4 Tier Fruit/White design to try out for Travis’s lunch time needs. [...]

Get Your Life Buttoned Up with Handy Life.doc!

Anyone who knows me knows that I like to be organized. But as organized as I am, my husband has no idea what any of our important information is or where I keep it. Of course it probably doesn’t help that I keep a lot of this information in my head! I guess like most families, we always figured that if at least one of us was keeping track of things, then the info would be there when we needed it. But where is “there” exactly? My computer, my cell phone, buried in a pile of papers in a file under the desk somewhere? For us the answer was yes to all of the above. Now, our answer is a big YES to the Life.Doc Kit from the good people at Get Buttoned Up. [...]

Melissa & Doug Puzzle Rack Helps Tidy Up

The wooden puzzles from Melissa & Doug are wonderful, but they do pose a problem when it comes to storing them neatly. The pieces will fall out if the puzzle is tipped on its side, and the pieces don’t all stack nicely on a shelf due to the pegs, so I was happy to find that Melissa & Doug has a line of puzzle racks. [...]

I can’t begin to tell you how happy I am with my new 2011 Organized Family calendar by Canadian company Glow Baby, but let me try! Gone are the days of missed appointments and forgotten play dates. This calendar keeps the entire family organized. [...]

Melissa & Doug's Magnetic Calendar

What better way to help your children plan ahead and help keep your family organized than Melissa & Doug’s fabulous Magnetic Calendar for children three and older? I purchased this calendar for my preschooler when I realized that I was talking with him about the days of the week, the weather, special festivities, and all the details involved in keeping track of dates and events. Talking about the calendar isn’t the same as seeing one visually, and even t [...]

This Mom Has An Agenda – And A Giveaway!

I am a bit of an organization freak, especially when it comes to time. Little Miss is still so small that she doesn’t have much to sort out but my husband on the other hand is the king of double bookings and “but I didn’t know” so despite networked computers and our blackberries I needed an obvious and simple solution. I had heard a lot of buzz about MomAgendas and when I saw their wall calendar I became ridiculously excited. momAgenda was kind enough to send me one to review and I have to say waiting for it to arrive I felt like a kid waiting for Christmas. [...]

Trofast: Tried & True

IKEA’s Trofast line is just so smart. Not only can you pick the size of the frame, you can also pick the size and the color of the plastic bin inserts to match your living space. So you can still go cutesy and colourful if it’s going in your tot’s room, or you can go neutral if it’s going in your living room (the white bins shown above were our personal choice). And since the bins are so affordable, you can buy new ones and swap them out if you feel like a change! The Trofast line also comes with additional pieces so that it can adapt depending on your needs – you can create change tables, drawers, and shelves, or you can just use it as a simple storage unit. One of my favourite features is its mobility – you can just pull out a bin full of toys, move it to a different room, and plunk it on the floor for your kids to play with. And as your kids start to outgrow piles of toys, it can easily be used to store crafting and colouring supplies, school supplies, and books or CD’s. You can easily move it from your living room and put it in their bedroom to make a bookshelf or dresser. It’s just so smart and adaptable! [...]

Attention Neat Freaks!

Okay, okay, I admit it. I have a box for my label maker labeled … “Label Maker”. Now, even though I own my own label making machine to support my organizational habit, I recently found, and love, Canadian company Mabel’s Labels. [...]
